BRUNSWICK, Georgia: October 2, 2025 – For the fifth straight year, Southeastern Bank has reaffirmed its commitment to rural health care by contributing $100,000 through the Georgia HEART Hospital Program to benefit the Southeast Georgia Health System Camden Campus. Since 2020, the Bank has redirected a total of $500,000 in state tax dollars to support expanded services and critical investments in local health care.

“Investing in the health of our community is one of the most meaningful things we can do,” says Jay Torbert, President and CEO of Southeastern Bank. “We’re proud to use the Georgia HEART program as a way to turn our tax dollars into real, lasting improvements for families who rely on the Camden Campus for care. Reaching the $500,000 mark is a milestone we’re honored to celebrate.”

The Georgia HEART (Helping Enhance Access to Rural Treatment) Hospital Program allows Georgia taxpayers to redirect their state income tax dollars to eligible rural hospitals, like the Camden Campus, in exchange for a 100% state tax credit. Businesses and individuals alike can participate, and business owners may qualify for an additional federal deduction.

Over the past five years, Southeastern Bank’s contributions—alongside others through Georgia HEART—have made it possible for the Camden Campus to fund vital health initiatives, including a new Wound Care Center, ROSA Knee robotic surgical technology, and 3D mammography, one of the most advanced tools in breast cancer detection.

In 2025, these redirected tax dollars will help expand both inpatient and outpatient cardiology services to meet the region’s growing needs. It’s a chance to make a direct impact on heart health—with your own heart in the right place.

“Access to quality care shouldn’t depend on your ZIP code,” added Torbert. “Through Georgia HEART, we’re proud to help ensure that our friends, neighbors and employees in Camden County have access to the medical services they need—right here at home.”

Christy Jordan, President and CEO of Southeast Georgia Health System, expressed her gratitude for the continued support: “Southeastern Bank has been a steadfast partner in advancing rural health care. Their five-year commitment has made a real difference in what we can offer the community, and we’re deeply thankful for their leadership.”

Jordan added, “The Georgia HEART program is a smart way for both businesses and individuals to take control of their tax dollars and put them to work locally—where the benefit is immediate, visible and personal.”

Southeastern Bank is among more than 88 Georgia taxpayers who directed a portion of their 2025 taxes to the Camden Campus. Participating in the program is simple, takes only a few minutes, and costs the taxpayer nothing out of pocket. To apply or learn more, visit sghs.org/ga-heart or georgiaheart.org.
