The Board of Directors of Southeastern Bank is proud to announce its election of Jay Torbert as President effective July 1, 2021. Con Holland will continue as CEO and Chairman of the Bank as well as President, CEO and Chairman of the Bank’s parent company, Southeastern Banking Corporation. With this appointment, Torbert joins the Bank Board.
Holland stated, “Jay’s keen business acumen, character and familiarity with the Bank made him a logical choice for President as the Bank continues to position itself for the future. Jay has shown a willingness to accept myriad challenges with a track record of delivering outstanding results. I am confident he will build on those successes.”
Torbert, a licensed CPA and graduate of Valdosta State University and the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Pennsylvania, joined Southeastern Bank as Chief Financial Officer in 2011. As President, Torbert will oversee day-to-day operations of the Bank, while also retaining CFO responsibilities.
Torbert and his wife Jeannine reside on St. Simons with their three children – Matthew and Jacob, both attending the University of Georgia, and Sara Grace, a rising senior at Glynn Academy. Jay is an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Board member and Past President of the Golden Isles Rotary Club, Treasurer of the Glynn Academy Football Boosters, Executive Board member of the Coastal Georgia Council of the Boy Scouts of America and Chair of the Georgia Bankers Association’s Asset Liability Management Committee.
