Southeastern Bank’s Jay Torbert Installed as Board Member of the Georgia Bankers Association

Donald “Jay” Torbert, Jr., president and CEO of Southeastern Bank, headquartered in Darien, has been elected to serve a three-year term on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Bankers Association (GBA).

“We are delighted to welcome Jay to the GBA board, and we look forward to benefiting from his wealth of experience and insight for the betterment of the industry and, most importantly, the communities, families and businesses that Georgia’s banks serve,” said Kim Wilson, GBA chairman and president and CEO of OneSouth Bank in Macon.

Torbert joined Southeastern Bank in 2011 as Chief Financial Officer. He was promoted to president in 2021 and CEO in 2022. Torbert has worked in the banking industry for 23 years, and prior to entering the banking industry, he worked for Mauldin & Jenkins, a CPA firm in Albany.

Torbert graduated from Valdosta State University in 1994 with a B.B.A. in accounting and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1996. He is a graduate of the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Pennsylvania, the Graduate School of Bank Investments & Financial Management at the University of South Carolina and the AICPA National Banking School at the University of Virginia.

Long active with the Association, Torbert currently serves on the GBA Community Bankers Committee and Tax Advisory Committee. He also served for several years on the GBA Asset/Liability Management Committee
