NAHUNTA, GA: As the City of Nahunta celebrates its 100th birthday, Southeastern Bank is also celebrating a “Century of Service” in Brantley County. In 1925, the Bank (then known as The Citizens Bank) opened a banking office in Nahunta. In announcing its plans to open in the November 13, 1924 edition of The Nahunta Banner, the Bank pledged, “We assure you that we will endeavor to extend to the citizens of this county every courtesy and convenience possible, and as soon as we are open for business, it will be a pleasure to us to serve you to our utmost capacity.” Ever since, the Bank has continued to honor this pledge from that same location “on the triangle lot that faces the railroad, lying between the Courson-Rogers company store and Ford agency, operated by Mr. F. O. Knox.”

The Bank plans to celebrate this milestone on Friday, October 10 and invites the community to join. The celebration kicks off at 10 a.m. with the Bank’s donation of a live oak tree to the City of Nahunta in commemoration of their shared centennial. The tree will be planted at the west gateway into Nahunta from Highway 84. At the Bank itself, there will be a historical display as well as treats, giveaways and drawings throughout the day.
